Golden Afternoon

So after my first blog entry this morning, I decided to go for a walk under the 91 F blazing sun. I really had not noticed how hot it could get in the city since I used to live at the beach and found myself in the ocean almost half of my day! With my iPod in hand, a tote bag made out of hemp and a small amount of cannabis in my system, I proceeded to have lunch at my favorite vegetarian spot, Vishnu. I made a promise this year to stick to only fish and veggies since I saw my sister crying like never before as she watched a PETA video where they show the disgusting chicken coops and slaughterhouses for cows on YouTube. So far, it's been 2 months of no meat but I am not missing it at all....well, maybe just the chicken since I ate chicken every single day. Yes, gross!!! As I walked through the busy streets of San Jose, I kept observing the drivers' faces all over me. Interesting to see and realize that you are not the only one who makes faces while driving. But then again, I am always singing and talking loud so people can trip out on me..... The lunch meal was absolutely delicious. I ordered a "plato del dia" which is today's special and includes: a soup, main entree, dessert and a fruit drink a la naturale. Today's special was tomato soup (yum), wheat rice with a potato and green beans mix, small green salad and the dessert consisted of a chocolate flavored cake (out of this world). So as my sweaty body entered downtown, I proceeded to check out some cool spots that are fairly new to me. This being that they were opened while I was working in Canada and visiting California last year. I came upon this really cool museum which is absolutely free and let my eyes soak up some very interesting art. One of my favorites was a piece called "The Bird Maze" which consisted of cardboard boxes spray painted sky blue and had white, fluffy clouds painted on them all of the boxes opened and set on the floor in the shape of a maze. Very Cool. My next stop was a coffee shop which reminded me of Los Angeles. Very modern and classy but the upstairs patio made it bohemian and relaxing. As I rested and enjoyed a cold, vanilla Chai Tea, I let my body cool off and turned the pages of today's "La Nacion" anxiously looking for interesting articles and not bad news. Sunset was about to begin so I decided to stop by one more art gallery and prepare my mind and soul for the best part of the day. As I exited the gallery, I took a quick look back and read "Te Extraño".
